I had heard about Dermalogica so much, but it was only about 4 years ago that I grew more and more intrigued by it, I hesitated due to their prices, but after hearing makeup artist Lisa Eldridge rave about their Gentle Exfoliator I decided to splurge in some of their scrubs…guess what? They all became my holy-grails…
Dermalogica Gentle Exfoliator
This is a chemical, non-abrasive exfoliation treatment that claims to “thoroughly remove dulling surface debris, dramatically improving skin texture.” It contains alpha hydroxy Lactic Acid, beta hydroxy Salicylic Acid and natural fruit enzymes.
At first, it was weird for me to not feel any tiny beads working their magic (it’s just a creamy texture) so I was skeptical of its power at improving my skin texture, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that it does deep cleanse the skin, decongesting pores, without being ever so slightly rough or dry on the skin. This is a great one for sensitive or drier skin types.
Dermalogica Daily Exfoliator
OMG Another one I can’t be without! It’s a rice-based enzyme powder that activates upon contact with water. It contains Papain, Salicylic Acid and Rice Enzymes, which is suppose to accelerate cell renewal. According to their website their active ingredients help:
- “To balance uneven skin pigmentation.”
- “To regulate melanin production while micro-exfoliating dead cells.”
- “To calm inflammation, leaving the skin extraordinarily clear and refreshed.”
I’m now on my second bottle and my love for it keeps strong, it really leaves my skin super soft and visibly more even out. I use it only in the morning to clean my skin, leaving it on while brushing my teeth.
Dermalogica Multi-Vitamin Thermafoliant
Same as with the Exfolikate, which I reviewed here, this one combines physical and chemical exfoliants “to refine skin texture and enhance penetration of age-fighting actives into skin”.
I must admit, that I’m more inclined to these type of dual exfoliants, as they allow me to gently massage the tiny particles into my skin, and then leave in as a mask to maximize the components’ effect.
It might tingle or feel a bit warm upon application, depending on your skin’s sensitivity -it didn’t on me- and after leaving it on for about 15 minutes I feel my skin super fresh, clean and it does look more refined.
Definitely another winner and staple in my skincare cabinet, I recommend you go ask for a sample and give it a go.
Have you tried Dermalogica? What are your favorite scrubs?
